Happy New Year!!

Hey Guys!!  I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year, may all your dreams and wishes come true,  I want to thank you all for continuing to read, visit and comment on my little blog.  

How was 2012 for you?  Personally, 2012 had it's up and downs, there are some things I want to forget and there were some great memories made as well.  It seemed like more downs Lol.  To be honest, I am excited to see what 2013 has in store for me and you guys as well.  As you know I will be turning 30 years old in a few weeks oh my!!  

All so I want to give a huge virtual hug to my family and friends you were there for me throughout the last year.  You all are awesome, I hope to see you all this year.     

Well, it turned out that 2012 brought me some luck in the last few weeks as I started a New Job!  Yeahhy, I kinda like it...I feel like the new kid on the block or in high school all over again.  Remember, the feeling when you were "new" and people wanted to know everything about you ha ha! This was weird for me :)  

Let's wash away any negativity from the past year!

What was your favorite memory or event from 2012?  Anything that stood out?  

For me it was my trip to Paris in February, I must go back there!! Crosses fingers :)

New Years' Resolutions?  I think it is important to have realistic goals, if you have made NY Resolutions...Just sayin!  I haven't really made Resolutions but I want to exercise more and be slightly more healthy.  I guess, I want to be truly happy and sneak in a little love.  (Hope the love bug finds me) Lmao! I said it Lol  (Hide face!) Have a good rest of your New Years Day! XX

A Special Time of Year!

Hey Guys!! I wanted to wish you all a Safe and Merry Christmas if you are celebrating, the birth Jesus.  He is pretty cool, to say the least.  If you are not celebrating, enjoy the time you have with your loved ones. 

(I know I am a day late).   

Here is some food for thought.  I posted the following on my Twitter and FB, last week.  This season is about hope, peace, joy and love, nothing else not overly expensive gifts! #realtalk #Christmas.  I get so angry when I hear people discussing, the need to purchase numerous gifts for others.  It's just not about that.

I hope you all are enjoying all of the sights, sounds and delicious foods of the season.  Oh my, I have eaten quite a lot in the last few days LOL.  Please try not to over do it Ha ha!  As well, I would recommend not partaking in a great deal of alcoholic beverages since you will be around some unique characters.  You want to keep the rest of your holidays drama free.

   

I have a few tips for you all also.

Tip #1 How to handle yourself
You may have thought about this already.  Since you will be in the company of many different individuals that you may or may not fancy, you must keep a few things in mind.  You must consider the fact that some conversations and interactions are not worth it.  It is important learn this life lesson, fake it til you make it.  Personally, I have learned that sometimes you just need to nod and smile because some people are just difficult.  Also, stay away from any touchy subjects.  Remember you won't be seeing many of these people often to take it easy and don't let anyone get the best of you, especially now.  Btw, remember to have fun and enjoy yourself.    

#2 Self care
This is so important!  Remember to take care of yourself, you are important.  Whether you have been cooking up a storm, entertaining or just visiting family and friends.  It is imperative that you take care of your self, your mental health; do what makes you feels good as a whole.  Things can get a little crazy so.  Take five minutes to do something you love, read, take a long shower, eat something yummy, paint your nails or do nothing.  Just take a deep breath...  The holidays can be great but it can be trying as well. Take care of you!!

A Crowd Pleaser

Hey Guys!! I know it's been a over a week since there was any blog action, last week was busy.  For give me?  A few weeks ago, we had some friends over and I was in need of a quick appetizer that needed to be made in no time at all.  So I thought to my self, we've got Avocado's, you know what that means... Guacamole!!  

FYI, Guacamole is not just for the summer, and it's healthy.  If you know me, you are aware that I tend not to write down recipes LOL  Well, I had to write this one down for my mom's friend hence it was crowd please-er.  Over the holidays, you will have folks over or just need a quick snack....try my Guac recipe!  

Nomnom

Guacamole Recipe

1 large Avocado or 2 small ones

1 tablespoon of Lime Juice

1 Clove of Garlic grated

Half of a Tomato finely diced

Quarter of Red Onion finely diced

Salt and Pepper to taste

Serve with Nachos

Optional:  Diced Jalapeno w/o seeds if you like  

Tip: Cut the Avocado in half and use a spoon to get all of it out of the skin.  Mash Avocado with a fork or use a potato masher and then add Lime Juice to Avocado.  (Make sure to add Lime Juice to the Avocado once you spoon it out of the skin because you do not want it to turn brown due to oxidization.)  Add in the rest of the ingredients ensuring that all are incorporated well.

Btw, if you have leftovers put it in the fridge and have it the next day, it will keep for one day.

Malala's Song, Important Cause

Hey Guys,

On October 9, 2012, 15-year old Malala Yusufzai was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in response to her campaign against the destruction of girls schools in Pakistan. In the face of terror, Malala risked her life to speak out for the rights of girls everywhere. Malala's bravery has sparked a global movement and we believe the Nobel Foundation should give her the Nobel Peace Prize.

The first step in this process is to get Malala nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.  Only certain people, like a Member of Parliament, are allowed to put forward nominations.  (This is an international petition not only a Canadian petition; I am certain that individuals around the world can sign it.  Please check out the website!)

A Nobel Peace Prize for Malala will send a clear message that the world is watching and will support those who stand up for gender equality and universal human rights that includes the right of education for girls. Source 

In my opinion, I believe that this is a very important cause.  It breaks my heart that a young girl was shot in the head because she believed in girls education.  It sickens me that a "group" or an "individual" would stoop so low.  Malala is a brave and courageous young girl who wanted to stand up for a simple right.  It has been said that education is the gateway out of poverty; learning and knowledge is something no one can take away from you.  I urge you to sign the petition on the link below as you are lucky enough to have a choice to make your own educational choices.
